Summary:A little over a year, hundreds of thousands of people came to European shores in several waves seeking asylum and protection. They were fleeing the civil war ravaging leading for five years to his country, Syria. Unfortunately, not all European countries have given them a warm welcome. The European Union, imbued by the obsession on security in the immigration issue, has been concerned over border control to curb immigration to assist refugees humanely. From our point of view, the refugee crisis has a number of criminological and victimological connotations. In the current model of citizen security, refugees are criminalized while are victimized. The integrated threat theory can explain the reactionary and criminalizing attitude of many European citizens before the displaced. The man result is the victimization and suffering damages are the refugees in their attempt to settle in Europe. The aim of this paper is to analyse, from a multidisciplinary approach, this unparalleled phenomenon in the recent history of European Union.
Hace algo más de un año que cientos de miles de personas llegaban en varias oleadas a las costas europeas en busca de asilo y protección huyendo de la guerra civil que lleva asolando desde hace un lustro a su país, Siria. Desafortunadamente, no todos los países europeos les han dispensado una cordial bienvenida. Y es que la Unión Europea, imbuida por la obsesión en la seguridad en la cuestión migratoria, se ha preocupado más de controlar las fronteras para frenar la inmigración que de asistir humanitariamente a los refugiados. Desde nuestro punto de vista, la crisis de los refugiados tiene un buen número de connotaciones criminológicas y victimológicas. En el actual modelo de seguridad ciudadana, los refugiados son criminalizados al mismo tiempo que son víctimas de delitos. La teoría de la amenaza integrada permite explicar la actitud reaccionaria y criminalizadora de muchos ciudadanos europeos ante los desplazados. La principal consecuencia de ello es la victimización y perjuicios que están sufriendo estas personas en su intento por asentarse en Europa. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar desde un enfoque multidisciplinar este fenómeno sin parangón en la reciente historia de la Unión Europea.
