Zusammenfassung:Historically, criminology has emphasized sociological, environmental, and psychological determinants of criminal behavior. However, advancements in neuroscience and brain imaging have led to an exploration of biological factors as well, underlying deviant behaviors. The purpose of this study is to illuminate the critical role of neurology in contemporary crime prevention, transcending conventional frameworks to reconceptualize foundational theories and interventions. The study also attempts a neurological underpinning of criminality and explores how such insights can reshape crime prevention strategies. Specifically, the research addresses the question: "How can neurological deviations contribute to criminal behavior, and what implications does this have for crime prevention?" Through a panoramic exploration encompassing areas such as brain structures, neurotransmitter dynamics, imaging techniques, developmental neurology, neuropharmacology, and the ethical ramifications of these revelations, the study underscores the profound implications of neurology in reshaping criminological paradigms. Findings suggest that neurological insights, when integrated holistically, offer strategic innovations in crime prevention, promising more nuanced, efficacious, and empathetic approaches in criminology. With its dual focus on the micro (neurological structures) and macro (societal implications), this study encapsulates the essence of the current neuro-criminological landscape, emphasizing its transformative potential in revolutionizing crime prevention.
