| Sumario: | Compliance is a major issue in community corrections given that noncompliance with the obligations—such as standard conditions or special conditions—can result in further liberty restrictions including incarceration. Few countries can describe their processes for dealing with compliance issues—either to incentive positive behavior or to sanction negative behavior. This chapter identifies several strategies that are used to address compliance-related issues. Many of the examples come from the United States, where revocations from supervision contributed to mass incarceration. Lessons from the United States suggest that managing compliance is one of the most challenging aspects in supervising individuals in the community. This is an area that requires more development from community correction organizations across the globe. |
