| Zusammenfassung: | Real-time crime centers (RTCCs) are control rooms that employ a suite of technologies ranging from live surveillance cameras and information databases to automated license plate readers and gun-fire detection devices that instantly give information to line officers and investigators. As RTCCs are evolving and increasingly adopted by policing agencies across the US, researchers are starting to explore the implications of such technologies. This study uses qualitative interview data to assess its benefits for law enforcement while examining questions of privacy, policy, and law that often comes with nascent policing technologies. This is especially important as information society moves into areas of machine learning, AI, and automated identification of individuals. |
