| Zusammenfassung: | This article explores the utilization of forensic evidence within the current federal criminal justice process of Ethiopia. The research methodology involves a comprehensive literature review, analysis of relevant legal frameworks, and interviews with key informants, including forensic experts, judges, prosecutors, and public defenders. The research examines the extent to which forensic evidence is utilized in criminal investigations, prosecutions, and court proceedings, and assesses its effectiveness in facilitating the identification and conviction of perpetrators. The findings of the research reveal that there is an insufficient legal framework in place to govern the utilization of forensic evidence in criminal cases. Additionally, inconsistencies were observed in the application of forensic evidence by law enforcement agencies, which pose challenges to its effective utilization. Furthermore, variations were identified in how courts utilize forensic evidence, highlighting the need for standardization guidelines. The findings also indicate the importance of adequate training and resources for forensic experts. |
