| Sumario: | In 2017, probation services in London piloted a novel method for assessment and screening of mental health need in the probation population with the aim of quickly identifying the appropriate service to meet that need. Psychology services embedded within the probation environment were put in place to meet fundamental needs identified. The combined initiative is referred to as the Rapid Assessment and Support Service (RASS). This chapter presents the data from 125 screens and evaluates the effectiveness of the screening process. This evaluation will be accompanied by a brief review of three service delivery methods currently in place to meet the need for psychological treatment in London. The results support a conclusion that while these services are shown to be effective to meet the needs of many Probation Service users, more development is needed to support the needs of neurodiverse populations, and should be scaled up to meet the demand of a large population. |
