Summary:Human trafficking impacts people of all backgrounds and people are trafficked for a variety of purposes. While men are usually trafficked into hard labour jobs, women and girls are typically trafficked into the commercial sex industry, i.e. prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation. Sexual trafficking involves acts that constitute a complete degradation of the victim’s body, mind and soul. Not surprisingly, poverty constitutes its major cause. Despite the abundance of legal frameworks which are in existence to curb the ugly trend, the shameful act still thrives in almost all parts of the world.
