Description
Summary:Workplace deviant behaviors constitute a crucial research topic due to the various human, financial, and social costs for employees, organizations, and societies. Hence, to provide a holistic picture of workplace deviance, we use a scoping review to analyze 49 articles and the contents of nine employee focus group discussions, 51 one-on-one interviews with participants, and a discussion with a panel of experts. Our analyses enable us to identify three main types of workplace deviance: unacceptable outputs or behaviors, interpersonal deviance, and misuse of resources. We also classify deviant behaviors as non-respectful of organizational norms, laws, or ethical principles. We discuss the contributions of this new typology from theoretical and practical perspectives.
