Summary: | Part of a special issue celebrating 25 years of this journal. The writers discuss the circumstances surrounding the publication of the first edition of this journal. In 1973, Hi Schwendinger began to talk about the need for a journal that concentrated on radical criminology, so he set about forming an editorial collective. The editorial collective was dominated by a spirit of egalitarianism, so the functions of a chief editor were assigned to a rotating editor called a “coordinating editor.” This journal enriched the theoretical side of radical criminology by focusing on world systems approaches to crime, punishment, and social justice. |
