Description
Summary:Part of a special issue celebrating 25 years of this journal. The writer discusses radical criminology and social movements around the time that this journal was first published. The launching of Crime and Social Justice, the previous incarnation of this journal, was the logical extension of the creation of alternative institutions. A progressive criminology movement emerged from the Berkeley campus in California, and it was committed to a combination of radical analysis and political organizing. Details of radical criminology and social movements in Britain, Canada, and Australia; Italy; Germany; Scandinavia; South Africa; Japan; Latin and Central America; and the former socialist states are provided.
