| Summary: | The Covid-19 pandemic was a crisis of untold proportions faced by the world in recent history. The response to the pandemic has global, national, and local dimensions. Governments in all countries had a significant role in the response and coordinated different departments and agencies. Police were one of the critical departments that had a frontline role in response to the pandemic. Examining the experience of the police response in Kerala state in India, this study draws conclusions regarding policing during the pandemic. The study finds that the pandemic posed severe challenges to the police, which it faced using new and innovative strategies and tactics. The efforts of the police in the state had an impact on restricting the spread of the disease in the state. |
