While there exists data and research on violence within households and between intimate partners, there is a need for an improved epistemological and theoretical understanding of these issues in the Caribbean context. The current chapter engages in a systematic review of past and present perspectives and understandings of domestic violence in the Caribbean region. It explores the framing and conceptualizations of such forms of violence within Caribbean discourse. Further, it investigates how this framing of domestic violence within the regional discourse impacts responses and interventions.
