Summary:The trafficking of counterfeit medicines is a highly lucrative illegal activity in- volving the production, distribution or sale of medicines that do not meet the qua- lity and safety standards set by health authorities. These counterfeit medicines may contain toxic ingredients, incorrect doses of their active ingredient or even be completely devoid of therapeutic effects. This illicit trade poses a serious threat to public health worldwide.
El tráfico de medicamentos falsos es una actividad ilegal muy lucrativa que implica la producción, distribución o venta de fármacos que no cumplen con los estándares de calidad y seguridad establecidos por las autoridades sanitarias. Estos específi- cos fraudulentos pueden contener ingredientes tóxicos, dosis incorrectas de su principio activo o incluso estar completamente desprovistos de efectos terapéuti- cos. Se trata de un comercio ilícito que supone una grave amenaza para la salud pú- blica en todo el mundo.
