AB In an effort to address mass incarceration in the United States as well as the complexities of inequity in carceral systems, a movement has developed over the past decade to actively and strategically decarcerate the population of the United States. This chapter will detail the concepts and history of decarceration and help forensic social workers learn how to practice in the area as well as how to support active decarceration movements from across the profession.
