Focusing on the role of individual officers within the organization, this article explores four eras in the cultural presentation of policing. The professionalism era of policing offered an image of police officers as idealized representations of their organization, but this model was eventually replaced with an individual-centric view of policing. More modern examples suggest a new model which separates the individual from the policing role and presents a more complex character. Elements of the professional model of policing, particularly the crime fighter image, however, were transported into this new model and remain essentially unchallenged. | ||
| 520 | |a Die Darstellung der Polizei in popkulturellen Formaten hat sich in der Geschichte von Film und Fernsehen deutlich gewandelt. Der vorliegende Artikel beschäftigt sich vorrangig mit der Rolle individueller PolizeibeamtInnen innerhalb der größeren Organisation in vier Ären der kulturellen Repräsentation der Polizei. Die Ära des Professionalismus bot ein idealisiertes Bild von PolizeibeamtInnen als VertreterInnen ihrer Organisationen, aber dieses Modell wurde schließlich von einem individualzentrierten Bild der Polizeiarbeit ersetzt. Modernere Beispiele lassen auf ein neues Modell schließen, das das Individuum von seiner PolizistInnenrolle trennt und einen komplexeren Charakter zeichnet. Elemente des professionellen Modells der Polizei, vor allem dem Bild der "Verbrechensbekämpfung", wurden in dieses Modell hinübergeführt, wo sie praktisch unverändert blieben. | ||
