This chapter presents an overview of youth-related homicide in Canada, first highlighting the legislative landscape in youth justice in Canada and as it relates to juvenile homicide specifically. Statistics on youth-involved homicide, experiences, and outcomes for young people involved in the justice system for homicide follow. Some of the challenges to understanding and studying this phenomenon in Canada are then discussed. The chapter concludes with a series of recommendations for future consideration and investigation. |
