AB Rechtszynismus bezeichnet die Tendenz einer Person, geltende Gesetze nicht anzuerkennen oder für sich als nicht bindend zu empfinden. Ist der Rechtszynismus in einer Gesellschaft erhöht, stellt dies eine Bedrohung für die Funktionsweise eines Staates und die Demokratie dar. Um das Konzept Rechtszynismus zu verstehen und sein Ausmaß in der Bevölkerung beeinflussen zu können, ist es unerlässlich, individuelle und kontextuelle Faktoren zu identifizieren, die den Rechtszynismus begünstigen bzw. hemmen. Eine standardisierte Bevölkerungsbefragung (n = 1900) in 37 Dortmunder Stadtteilen zeigt u.a. eine hohe Selbstkontrolle als protektiven Faktor, während Diskriminierungserfahrungen sowie eine berichtete hohe Devianztoleranz von Peers als Risikofaktoren identifiziert werden konnten.
AB Legal cynicism refers to a person’s tendency to disregard existing laws or to perceive them as not binding. When legal cynicism is elevated in a society, it poses a threat to the functioning of the state and democracy. In order to understand the concept of legal cynicism and to be able to influence its level in the population, it is essential to identify individual and contextual factors that promote or inhibit legal cynicism. In a standardized population survey (n = 1900) in 37 districts of Dortmund, a high level of self-control was identified as a protective factor, while experiences of discrimination and a reported high tolerance of deviance among peers were identified as risk factors.
