RT Article T1 Understanding the Changing Social and Health Circumstances of Women Leaving Jail: A Social Support Analysis JF Women & criminal justice VO 34 IS 5 SP 385 OP 399 A1 Assimonye, Stephanie A2 Lee, Jaehoon A2 Smith, Sharla A2 Glenn, Jason 1967- A2 Kennedy, Pablo A2 Ramaswamy, Megha LA English YR 2024 UL https://krimdok.uni-tuebingen.de/Record/1904273246 AB Borrowing insights from Cullen’s Theory of Social Support to explain the association between women’s instrumental social supports and health risks over time, we analyzed data collected from 254 women who completed all waves (completers) or some but not all waves (non-completers) of follow-up data collection at 0, 12, 24, and 36 months. Trajectory and mixed model analyses showed that after release from jail, women had improvements in employment and transportation and reductions in exchange of sex for resources, alcohol use, hard drug use, and substance dependence. We provide a framework from which in-jail and community-based programs can draw from. K1 Women K1 Social Support K1 Reentry K1 Jail DO 10.1080/08974454.2022.2105475
