Summary:This data collection, sponsored by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), consists of an integrated set of surveys collected from public, private, public charter, and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) schools nationwide. This collection provides information about teachers and administrators and the general condition of America's elementary and secondary schools. Parts 1 and 2, Public and Private Teacher Data, provide information about teachers, such as teaching field, teaching workload, and teaching experience. Parts 3 and 4, Public and Private Administrator (Principal) Data, provide information about the training, experience, professional background, and demographic characteristics of school principals. Parts 5 and 6, Public and Private School Data, include information about schools such as policies, staffing patterns, student characteristics, programs and services offered, and activities related to various school reform issues. Part 7, Public District Data, provides information about school districts, such as enrollment and teacher counts, graduation requirements, and district policies regarding hiring and compensation of teachers, accountability reporting, and other measures of recent reforms.
