RT Article T1 Gender and white-collar crime JF Gender and crime SP 259 OP 280 A1 Piquero, Nicole Leeper LA English YR 2024 UL https://krimdok.uni-tuebingen.de/Record/1895490804 AB Two of the most prominent correlates of crime are age and gender. White-collar criminologists would add a third: that white-collar offenders differ from common or street offenders. The question of interest, then, becomes how do the two established correlates of crime, age and gender, relate to this unique form of offending, white-collar crime? Will similar patterns emerge, or will they differ substantially due to the different nature of offending? This chapter reviews research on gender and age patterns in white-collar offending. It also reports trends in arrests for white-collar crimes across gender, using data from the Uniform Crime Reports. The chapter concludes with a discussion of remaining gaps in our knowledge regarding differential patterns in white-collar offending across age and gender.
