AB Die österreichische Bewährungshilfe konnte als strafrechtskritisches und relativ justizfernes Modell der Konfliktregelung institutionalisiert werden. Der Beitrag analysiert die heutige Straffälligenhilfe als Beispiel einer sich als risikoorientiert und steuernd positionierenden Sozialen Arbeit; er stellt die seit den 1980er Jahren bestehenden Kontinuitäten dar und benennt Kontinuitätsbrüche. Die aktuelle Praxis der Bewährungshilfe wird auf Grundlage zweier empirischer Studien aus alltagstheoretischer Perspektive diskutiert: Können die „abolitionistischen Zwillinge“, die Wiedervergesellschaftung von Konflikten und die Abschaffung von Gefängnissen, im beobachtbaren eigensinnigen „Unterleben des Personals“ Realität bleiben? Wie lässt sich unter veränderten gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen konfliktorientierte, strafrechtskritische Soziale Arbeit praktizieren?
AB Austrian probation service has been institutionalised as a model of conflict resolution that is critical of the criminal law and relatively distant from the judiciary. The article analyses today's probation service as an example of social work that positions itself as risk-oriented and controlling; it presents continuities since the 1980s and identifies breaks in continuity. Based on two empirical studies, the current practice of the probation service is discussed from the perspective of everyday theory: How can conflict-oriented social work that is critical of criminal law be practised under changed social and societal conditions? Can the "abolitionist twins", the re-socialization of conflicts and the abolition if prisons, remain a reality by the underlife if a "wayward" staff?
