It is everyday struggles that counter different situations of exclusion, not state organized benefits; its people who are working on social selectivity of wage labour oriented social security measures. The concepts "work" and the perspective "welfare policy from below" make scientific reifications, especially the vocabulary of deviance and criminality, superflous.
