Zusammenfassung:This study examines the association between work quality and delinquency and to what extent a youth’s socioeconomic background moderates the relationship. The National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1997 and fixed effects analyses are used to determine the impact of pay rate, job satisfaction, and supervisor age on levels of delinquency as well as the moderating role of socioeconomic background. Results show that working for older supervisors significantly lowers a youth’s involvement in delinquency compared to times working for younger supervisors, an effect partially moderated by parental education level. Furthermore, the effect of supervisor age is larger for non-white youth than white youth; however, results show that black youth are significantly less likely to work in jobs with older supervisors.
