RT Article T1 The role of anxiety in fear of crime JF Crime, risk and insecurity SP 31 OP 49 A1 Hollway, Wendy A2 Jefferson, Tony 1946- LA English YR 2000 UL https://krimdok.uni-tuebingen.de/Record/187633469X AB Our topic derives from the ‘risk-fear’ paradox in the fear of crime literature; that is, those least at risk (old women) are most fearful and vice versa. Our hypothesis in starting our research 1 was that the introduction of anxiety into the debate would assist our understanding of this paradox; we assumed that people's fear of crime would not be a direct response to risk of victimisation but would be mediated by anxiety and defences against it. In the event, our hypothesis proved fruitful. SN 9780203389492
