The analysis focuses on an ‘in-depth hermeneutics’ interpretation of the crime video, which was livestreamed by the perpetrator. It is shown that the perpetrator’s construction of masculinity is closely related to his inability to endure ambiguities. Furthermore, it is illustrated that the attack can be understood as an initation rite into a male (online) collective. The results are theoretically framed and discussed against the background of the psychoanalytically influenced work of critical masculinity research by Klaus Theweleit and Rolf Pohl. | ||
