The thesis of the work is that, although they belong to the common root of the German racial hygiene, there are notable differences in the conferences because Aichel was born in Chile and had been a professor at the School of Medicine of the University of Chile, while Baur was a scientist in the vanguard of the genetics of the period. Methodologically the work offers a brief context of German racial hygiene to then compare the two conferences. In its results, the work identifies which are and what represent the differences between both conferences and ends raising some questions about the appropriation made by the chilean doctors, who could be felt reaffirmed in a thought prone to radical eugenics.El trabajo aborda un momento particular del viaje transcontinental de ideas de la higiene racial alemana hacia el contexto chileno a través de las conferencias que Otto Aichel -director del Museo de Antropología de la Universidad de Kiel- y Erwin Baur -figura de renombre mundial en la genética de las primeras décadas del siglo XX- realizaron en Santiago de Chile en 1927 y 1930 respectivamente. La tesis del trabajo es que, aunque ambas conferencias pertenecen a la raíz común de la higiene racial, hay notables diferencias entre ellas dado que Aichel había nacido en Chile y había sido docente de la Escuela de Medicina de la Universidad de Chile, mientras que Baur era un científico en la vanguardia de la genética del periodo. Metodológicamente el trabajo ofrece un breve contexto de la higiene racial alemana para luego comparar las dos conferencias. En sus resultados el trabajo identifica cuáles son y qué representan las diferencias entre ambas conferencias y termina planteando algunas preguntas sobre la apropiación que hicieron de ellas los médicos chilenos, que pudieron verse reafirmados en un pensamiento proclive a la eugenesia radical | ||
