AB The reasons of victims of child sexual abuse for reporting or not reporting the crime and their experience with the criminal justice system are examined through a qualitative study. 23 victims (20 females and 3 males) were in-depth interviewed. The results of other studies on the importance of personal and interpersonal factors, particularly the influence of the victim’s family environment, in the motivation to report or not are confirmed. The study also identifies good practices that can prevent secondary victimization of victims who come into contact with the judicial system.
AB Mediante un estudio cualitativo se examinan las razones para denunciar o no denunciar en víctimas de abuso sexual infantil y su experiencia con el sistema de justicia penal. Para ello se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a 23 víctimas (20 mujeres y 3 hombres). Se confirman los resultados de otros estudios respecto a la importancia de los factores personales e interpersonales, especialmente la influencia del entorno familiar de la víctima, en la motivación para denunciar o no hacerlo y se identifican buenas prácticas que pueden permitir reducir la victimización secundaria de las víctimas que entran en contacto con el sistema.
