RT Article T1 Exploring psychological distress and impulsivity as predictors of undergraduate problematic alcohol use JF Journal of addictions & offender counseling VO 43 IS 2 SP 111 OP 124 A1 Maccombs-Hunter, Stephanie A1 Bhat, Christine Suniti A2 Bhat, Christine Suniti LA English YR 2022 UL https://krimdok.uni-tuebingen.de/Record/1818741911 AB The goal of this research was to explore psychological distress (i.e., depression, anxiety, and stress) and impulsivity as predictors of problematic alcohol use (PAU) among 481 undergraduate college students between the ages of 18 and 25. The results showed that only impulsivity was predictive of PAU. Controlling for other factors in the model, for every one-unit increase in impulsivity score, the odds were 2.3 times greater that participants would engage in PAU. Implications for counselors and stakeholders are discussed. K1 substance use counseling K1 Psychological Distress K1 problematic alcohol use K1 Impulsivity K1 College students DO 10.1002/jaoc.12111
