Both green criminology and environmental criminal law are emerging subject areas that are accepted as being of serious importance in what has been called the 'age of the Anthropocene' and at a time when environmental issues are identified as global challenges, noise does not signify an exception. This paper analyses the concept of sound-noise and its relationship to criminality, to the hegemony of space, to surveillance and control, to visual and sensory criminology, to aesthetic order in cities, to rural spheres and additional specific environmental spaces. Spurred by on the idea of ‘sonic ecology’, it also explores some urban renewal in the eco-city model and connections between noise emission and the fledgling field of green victimology. | ||
