The project undertaken by the author and three Mexican-American teenage girls involved researching the experiences of first and second-generation Mexican-Americans who travel back and forth from the U.S. to Mexico and then publishing a bilingual children's book on this transnational identity. The article discusses how these border-crossing experiences are often negatively viewed in the U.S. public school system by teachers and administrators.
