Zusammenfassung:The article presents research on community organizing in order to improve educational equality, using the methodology of participatory action research (PAR). The study focuses on the efforts of African American and Latino communities in Berkeley, California that used the methods of building power and community to achieve school reform that addressed educational inequalities. A definition of learning power is provided and the debate over how underrepresented communities can organize for educational change is discussed.
