| Sumario: | Part of a special issue celebrating 25 years of this journal. The writer discusses crime, justice, and the death of the social. Political regimes of the social have evaluated and ordered the subjects of rule in terms of their connections to society. The social has met with many challenges and has been extensively displaced over the past two decades. Political visions in this environment do not constitute their subjects as members of an all-encompassing whole, but rather they appear as individuals who are responsible for their own destiny. Connected to this shift is the approach to crime that dispenses with the explanation of crime as a product of social conditions or disadvantages. In the field of crime and criminal justice, therefore, crime and social justice have become disconnected. |
