RT Article T1 The fight to reappear JF Social justice VO 27 IS 2 SP 45 OP 60 A1 Ruggiero, Vincenzo 1950- LA English YR 2000 UL https://krimdok.uni-tuebingen.de/Record/174715959X AB Part of a special issue on criminal justice at the new millennium. The writer focuses on the movement known as the sans-papiers, an organization that campaigns for immigrants' rights in France. He analyzes how strategies used against immigrants in Europe rely on the necessity that settlers hide their origin, their condition, and their very body—that, in essence, they are removed from public sight. He also explores the response of the sans-papiers and describes their struggle to reappear in view of the public. He concludes that the sans-papiers movement is indicative of an implicit and tentative objection to the pessimism over globalization.
