Sumario:Part of a special issue on immigration rights and national insecurity. An interview with Olga Talamante, a Chicana activist from California who was a torture victim in an Argentinian prison in 1974. Topics discussed include Talamante's experience of torture in Argentina; the debate over the use of torture as a weapon in the U.S. war on terrorism; and the different areas of struggle against torture today. The aim of the interview is to highlight the need to strengthen the human rights and social justice perspective within the present discourse on torture and to denounce American use and legitimization of torture.
