Description
Summary:Part of a special issue on art, power, and social change. Drawing on her experiences as an artist working in Mexico, the writer discusses how the creation of new ways of thinking through visuality and, particularly, through transdisciplinarity, can transform modes of interpreting, reproducing, and constructing reality. As the mythology of science has started to collapse, technological progress has revealed that what humans have been calling reality is not really what was originally thought: there is not one reality, but several, all coexisting at the same time. If people hope to expand into these realities, they must develop transdisciplinary connections. A growing community of artists and scientists has been collaborating in Mexico and elsewhere to expand human understanding of reality beyond the limits imposed by traditional disciplines.
