Zusammenfassung:The article focuses on a speech given by U.S. President Barack Obama after he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010. A comparison of the rhetoric used in Obama's speech with that of Christian theologian Reinhold Niebuhr is presented. Discussion of the justifications of foreign wars as explained by Obama is included. It is suggested that Obama compromised on his earlier positions of humanitarian intervention, preemptive war, and policies of former U.S. President George W. Bush during the "war on terror."
