AB The article discusses and proposes basic ideas for research along the lines of social function of crime and criminal justice. Topics discussed include how economic theory and historical observation can clarify many questions in the field of criminology, the need for a penal sanction constituted in such a way that classes most criminally inclined will prefer to abstain from the forbidden acts and the need to clarify the economic categories that determine the fate of the lower social classes.
