Sumario:The Scottish Association for Mental Health commissioned the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research to conduct a mapping exercise to identify the numbers and types of diversion schemes for people with mental health issues currently in operation throughout Scotland. This research defines ‘diversionary practice’ in reference to formal and informal processes of assessing and identifying the needs of an accused person and diverting them from the criminal justice pathway as early as possible.
