RT Article T1 Estimating the Intangible Victim Costs of Violent Crime JF The British journal of criminology VO 45 IS 6 SP 958 OP 976 A2 Dolan, Paul 1968- A2 Loomes, Graham A2 Peasgood, Tessa A2 Tsuchiya, Aki LA English YR 2005 UL https://krimdok.uni-tuebingen.de/Record/1639654348 AB Current estimates of the intangible costs of violent crime, such as the pain, grief and suffering experienced by victims, are not very robust. This paper sets out the different methods that can be used to provide more defensible cost estimates, and that use data that are currently available. One of these methods involves estimating the number of quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) that victims of crime lose. The estimates suggest that rape results in the biggest losses, followed (in descending order) by: other wounding, common assault, serious wounding, murder, robbery and sexual assault K1 Opfer K1 Viktimisierung K1 Kosten K1 Gewaltkriminalität K1 Psychische Folgen DO 10.1093/bjc/azi029
