RT Article T1 The development of a social, demographic and land use profiler for areas of high crime JF The British journal of criminology VO 37 IS 1 SP 103 OP 120 A1 Hirschfield, Alex A1 Bowers, Kate 1972- LA English YR 1997 UL https://krimdok.uni-tuebingen.de/Record/1639314024 AB Maps that show the patterns of crimes do not allow the investigator to analyse, in depth, the relationships between levels of crime and the social and physical environment. In order to address these shortcomings, a demographic, land use and crime risk profiling system has been developed and piloted on Merseyside. This paper sets out the need for a profiling system, discusses the data sets which are used and addresses a number of issues concerning profile production and design. The paper concludes with a series of examples showing different applications of the profiler and describes an agenda for future research K1 England K1 Kriminalökologie K1 Methodologie K1 Stadtprobleme K1 Polizeiliche Notrufe K1 Soziale Segregation K1 Kriminalitätsprofile K1 Kriminalitätsmuster K1 Kriminalitätsverteilung K1 Soziale Desorganisation K1 Kriminalgeographie K1 Wohnungseinbruch
