AB "Die Ersetzung sozialstaatlicher sowie sozialpädagogischer und sozialarbeiterischer Hilfen durch justizielle Sanktionen gilt als ein Anzeichen für wachsende Punitivität. Hintergrund dessen ist die Annahme, dass Hilfen und Strafen alternative und gegensätzliche Reaktionsweisen auf Delinquenz sind. Demgegenüber akzentuiert der vorliegende Beitrag, dass sanktionskritische Haltungen inzwischen auch in der Sozialen Arbeit in Frage gestellt werden und die Grenze zwischen Hilfen und Strafen weniger klar ist, als gewöhnlich angenommen wird. In der Folge ist es erforderlich, soziale Hilfen nicht mehr nur als eine Alternative zu strafrechtlichen Sanktionen, sondern auch als einen möglicher Bestandteil punitiver Praktiken in den Blick zu nehmen." AB "The replacement of welfare and social work through penal sanctions is considered an indication of growing punitivity. This view is based on the assumption that social support and penalties are alternative and opposing reactions to delinquency. In contrast the contribution at hand accentuates that critical attitudes towards punishment are nowadays questioned within the social work debate, and the line between support and punishment becomes less clear than is generally supposed. As a result, it is necessary to conceive of social work not only as an alternative to, but also as a form of realizing punitive practices." (author's abstract)
