678 |b Catharine Biddle is Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Maine, USA. Her research focuses on ways in which rural schools and communities respond to social and economic change in the twenty-first century. She is particularly interested in how schools can more effectively leverage partnerships with external organizations or groups to address issues of social inequality and how nontraditional leaders—such as youth, parents, and other community members—may lead or serve as partners in these efforts. Her work has been published in the Review of Research in Education, the American Journal of Education, and the Journal of Research in Rural Education and has been recognized by the National Rural Education Association. She is also a coauthor of the forthcoming volume, Voice, Vitality and Healing: Centering Students in Trauma-Responsive Education.
